Need Advice for new 3FT setup...

Hi Bros, new to Planted Tank setup, wanna know a few stuffs, hope you guys can help ya...

1) Tank 3FT x 2FT x 1.5FT (ht) - What is the best Eheim Cannister to run??
I have Eheim 2222 Pro in mind but izit too powerful?? Need
recommendation...

2) CO2 full set (solenoid type), Where is the best reasonable LFS to get it?

3) Gravel - Basically I have 3 layer in mind, lowest layer using Substrate,
middle layer fertilizer and Top layer normal gravel. Izit ok with that??
Need recommendation on brand of substrate also..

1) That model should be okay. Flowrate for Eheim can be adjusted.

2) We have not been to all the LFS to check on prices so we can't tell which is the cheapest yet.

3) 1 layer of base fertiliser below another layer of gravel is enough IMO. JBL, Dennerle, Aquatic Compost, ADA and Sera are some of the base fertilisers we have used.

1) According to Eheim website, 2222 supports up to 150L. Your tank is 250L. 2222 may work as well but you may like to get something bigger. Maybe at least a 2213, 2224 or 2235.

2) Can try Nature Aquarium for a start.

Hmm so as mentioned Bro, Optimum is to 1 layer of base fertiliser with a top layer of gravel.. How thick the layer are we discussing abt for the base fert??

Hi, I got an Atman 3337 which cost about 85$. I think they are the OEM for Ehiem. Running for about a month now, no problem. My brother got 2 of the same model and ran it for more than a year without any problems.

I got a CO2 system - Solenoid valve, tubes, bubble counter, one-way valve and a 5L tank for total of $210 from Nature.

I also bought a $1.99 ice tong for planting.

I got a 4ft x 18" x 18". The only problem that I am having now is the uneven growth rate of the plants in my tank. My Cabomba is growing like 1/2" per day. My Glosso is growing slowly also. The X-mas moss that I tied on my 3 logs are hardly growing at all.

just note that not all plants will grow at the same rate. Till one point in time, you will wish that your plants should have grow slower. You know what i mean when the time comes. :P

2222 is not enough in my experience. I have about the same tank as you 3x1.5x2ft tank(lxbxh). Previously used it when I began with planted tank but upgrade to a 2026.

I have a 2028 on duty for my 3x1.5x1.5ft. The flowrate also depends on all the stuff you have along your hoses, ie. reactor, UV etc. I always prefer to get a slight overkill. It's easier to reduce flowrate than to increase it, plus you can still use it if you upgrade to a 4ft tank.

Crystal clear water & it stop green water. - UV works! (my experience)

However, there are much debates on UV getting rid of traces. It make sense as medicine, liquid fertilizers and etc are known to keep away (storage) from sunlight because.................. UV.

Btw, your filtration system must cycle the tank at least 2 times per hour.
