Leslie, you can get whatever creature to get rid of BBA but you need to look into the cause of it or else it will smile and keep on coming. Check CO2.....for level and consistency. Oh, regarding the creature you are looking for, the best that I have seen is still a human.

I've heard of those like water circulation, CO2 control, Fertilizers, trimming and etc to control BBA.

But we still need some creatures to remove those that are starting to form.

I believe that we, humans, can remove provided that we spot them. But how to remove if areas that we can't spot?

    Anyway, thanks for that.

    Leslie.

    Maybe you can try SAE.

Heard that it may consume hairy algae.

    Don't code me on that.

Maybe as mentioned by PeterGwee, you can check your CO2 level. It usually goes away will high and consistent CO2 level.

SAE wun help much if this creature manage to find other algae to feed on.
must really let it unfeed for few weeks before it really clear the BBA.
Amazingly beside SAE, my yamato clear BBA for me too! But leave a big hole on the leave

Simply adding a fish or shrimp is not the solution. I've had SAEs, cigar fish, all kinds of shrimp, but bottom line is, if the root cause of the problem is not addressed, the BBA will keep growing. Adding certain creatures might lead to other problems, such as plants being eaten, shrimp fry being preyed on, etc.

If you're rich and lazy, then maybe a school of 50 hungry cigar fish or florida flag fish might work in reducing the BBA, but then you'll start facing other problems from heavy fishload.

In my experience, adding fishes & shrimps that are known for eating BBA, will only work during the early stage of BBA development. I have not had any critters that remove BBA entirely from the tank. It is always my intervention like scrubbing, prunning and cranking up the CO2 level...

    And BBA is real P.I.T.A

Biotope's display tank was full of BBA and the owner dumped 200 yamatoes into it. The BBA was cleared off totally. I'm skeptical about iy but dats wat he claims

You can kill off the algae in many ways be it by critters, manual removal or use of chemicals but I feel the problems are going to be more later with 200 shrimps in how big of a tank? If the NH4 exceeds the limit the threshold of the plants removal rate, he will get more algae issues...Don't buy the notion of using critters to out compete algae. Use good plant growth to do it. When plants do well, algae stands no chance. This is what I see with my own eyes....
