Question: Is it advisable to mix two different brands of soil into one tank?

There's no hard and fast rules about that, however you may wanna consider the following:

    Expiry
Different soil will expire after a certain period of time. Nutrients depleted and pH buffering stops. Mixing soil will cause partial depletion if one soil expires first.

    Size and color
Mainly aesthetic but may also affect water flow through the soil layer if one type is very fine and the other is large grained.

Also take note that aquasoil eventually crumbles to dust (varies from brand to brand, based on reviews from hobbyist). That is after fert value is more or less gone.
