Sure, why not ?
Is your canister too small right now ? How much intake L/H?

Hello Guys,
I have a 4ft tank previously using overhead filter and also canister. But the ohf keep splashing water and the don't really like having anything on top of the tank. its very ugly. I have already remove the ohf and my tank is currently running on a canister. 1 disadvantage is that i will get to see many small particles in the water.
it is possible to add another canister and fill it with 2 or 3 stack ofwool to act as a mechanical filtration to replace the ohf?
Will it work?
Please advise.

usually canister filters are filled with several layers consisting of both mechanical and biological filter media.
Yeah, canister filters usually come with fine white filter wool as the last exit layer to "polish" the water of fine particles and make it clear.
I'm guessing your canister filter somehow didn't include a fine filter wool layer?
Either way, you can just buy fine filter wool sheets and cut a piece to shape, then put as the last exit layer in your existing canister filter.

If your canister has the sufficient water flow for your tank, you can add on a prefilter in addition to the canister. Easier to maintain and just clear your prefilter of the woolsjust my 2 cents
