The top of the LED lights gets hot after a few hours, is it suppose to get hot?
The tank finally came after some hiccups...
So this is the setup which the bf did. He finally decided to help me with it! Went to a farm to get all the plants, and he threw everything in the tank. Will still be changing the layout i think.
got this driftwood too but still soaking in process.
The problem with getting plants from the farm
I scrub and scrub until i think i might just kill the plants!
found a leech and a weird looking creepy crawler from the moss too!

Yes it is suppose to get hot. You can consider getting a clip on fan to generate some airflow to cool the light. Because your tank will get warm due to it, not as hot as normal T5 but still warmer.
Errhhmm... should quarantine your plants or you might get a snail infestation before long![]()
For small thank, you should choose smaller leaf plants. That way the tank will look bigger. Those dot thing under other fern leaf is we here the plant let will grow from. The Sera co2 tablet thing shouldn't the whole thing submerge? Led do generated heat but last its electrode, the heat sink Weill help dissipate the heat.
Sorry, the handphone auto correction combine with small keypad make the whole sentence unreadable
I was saying:

no worries at all, auto correction can a pain at times.
The dots are not snail eggs? I could easily scrap it off with my nails. It came off like powder
The Sera co2 thing does not submerge according to the instruction booklet. I thought its suppose to submerge too. Apparently there are small holes at the bottom and the co2 came out from bottom.
So I think i no need to worry much about the heat from the LED?

Those are the spores of the fern. Snail eggs are usually covered with a jelly like substance. But they may hitch a ride on the plants anyway if you just miss one or two eggs. So far, 90% of the plants I bought from LFS comes with free snails -_-"
The heat from LED is usually ok. If you find that it raises your water temps, get a fan to circulate the heat away from the water.
sigh...i feel stupid now..argh~!
These plants are not from LFS. They are not taken from tanks like what u see at LFS. So i dont know how many free snails i would have. But judging from how i scrub and clean them, i think its clean enough to cook and eat.

Errhhmm.... you enjoy eating them k? I was lazy so I didn't scrub heheh. I will consider using a bleach solution dip to sanitize my newly acquired plants next time.
Ouch. Get a separate set of cleaning tools and water containers for your tank. Household cleaners may leave chemical residues even when they are rinsed off with water and many of these chemicals are deadly to aquatic life. But no worries since you don't have any fish inside at the moment. You can do a couple of water changes just in case and put some activated carbon into your filter for the first 2 weeks.
Good luck!![]()
