    Hi guys (& girls)

I have just talked with a LFS to explore the possibility of importing some apistos from South America. To do so, he has to have at least 2 boxes (about 320 fishes in all) - with each box consisting of 4 species (i.e. 40 fishes x 8 species). I am unsure of his pricing (I will check once I get some sort of indication here from brothers) but it should be around $30-40 per piece. I am also not sure about the DOA (dead on arrival) policy.

    He has given me a list of available apistos, which I have narrowed down to 8;
    1) Inka 50
    2) Apache Masken
    3) Algodon
    4) Melgar
    5) Purple
    6) Glaser
    7) Agassizii Flamenco
    Apistogrammodis Pucallpensis

I intend to pick up at least 2-3 pairs of each species.

If you guys can indicate your orders here, I will collate & revert to him to see if he can bring in the fishes. Please be reminded that I have no monetary interest in this order. I just want to bring in the apistos. Any transaction will be directly with the LFS. Please do not back out once you firm the order, otherwise it will be difficult for all in the future.

As a side point, I would also like to acquire Atahualpha (Sunset), Huascar (Sunrise) and Barlowi but they are not in the list.

For those curious to how the species in the list looks like, I've taken the liberty of finding links to each species:

    1) Inka 50 (Apistogramma baenschi) - http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species...amma-baenschi/
    2) Apache Masken (Apistogramma paulmuelleri) - http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species...-paulmuelleri/
    3) Algodon (at least 3 species come in under this trade name) - http://www.aquaticquotient.com/galle...hp?i=4082&c=41 (representative image of at least 1 type)
    4) Melgar - http://apisto.sites.no/fish.aspx?fis...481&gruppeID=1
    5) Purple (considered a form of sp. Pebas) - http://apisto.sites.no/fish.aspx?fis...291&gruppeID=1
    6) Glaser (this is a trade name of A. barlowi) - http://apisto.sites.no/fish.aspx?fis...378&gruppeID=1 (I believe this one to be the red form based on that link)
    7) agassizii Flamenco - http://apisto.sites.no/fish.aspx?fis...439&gruppeID=1 (trade name for a population from the Rio Tigre, Peru)
    8 ) Apistogrammoides pucallpaensis - http://www.rva.ne.jp/zukan/apisto/ap...llpaensis.html

So Edwin, at least one of them on the list is barlowi, good news for you.

Confirmation of info, based on the given trade name - http://www.apistogramma.com/forum/in...-glaser.11232/

Of the lot, I think only the Apistogrammoides interests me. I'll confirm soon with you. If you intend to do an MO you need to seek approval from Simon or Vincent (vinz), then it will be moved to correct location.

    hi bro Stormhawk....

Once again, your knowledge tops mine. But...I am a kiasu Singaporean...I already checked. I believe Barlowi is also known a Malbreuter (which of course, sounds like mouthbrooder). I think there are at least 3-4 other mouthbrooder apistos; Sp diamond face, kelleri. The problem is...they could be the same fish.

Thanks for the info on MO (I saw the thread) but, do the rules still apply if I just get an indication. My intention is to collate (NOT collect) then check with the LFS & ask bros here to contact the guy directly.

Re: Mass order of apistos - List

More or less these are probably just forms of a singular species, since several of them are found in interconnected river systems. The one listed as Algodon is confusing too.. haha. I saw posts online where people say Uwe Romer has a different name for some trade species, like sp. Melgar etc. He refuses to follow the general consensus.

Yes you can collate and judge the interest here for yourself but if there is an MO, just contact Vincent or Simon.

Place your interest with Edwin then and if you are confirmed, you can have them in your tanks soon enough.

    hi bro Stormhawk

    Thanks for the "support".

I am going to Aquarama this afternoon. Hope to see apistos but I don't harbour high hopes. I don't think I ever saw any apistos in previous Aquaramas.

If any brothers going, perhaps we can catch up. My contact is 81888037

Only saw one Apisto and it was in a display tank. I don't think I saw any other apistos. More African cichlids and Rams this round.

hi bro Stormhawk - you are luckier than me.I didn't see any apistos.

By the way, yr interested fish, Apistogrammoides pucallpaensis - I have only seen it once in Singapore - about 10 years ago at Kovan (this lady named Karin).

    Hi Edwin,
Do you have a final date for me to consider?

Re: Mass order of apistos - List

I would be interested in Apistogrammoides too but it really depends on when this mass order takes off.
Anyway sometimes a single trade name can and are often used for different species.

Re: Mass order of apistos - List

There were instances in the past where almost of all the fishes that came in were males. I understand they don't bring it in as a pair. So what would happen if there are only a few females, who gets it? What if no females, do we have to honour the order? I think no one wants 3-4pieces of males.

    hi bro Benjamin

You are correct of course. This is an issue which I have no answer. For instance, I got two pairs of Hoignei fm Stones about a month ago but found that I had 3 females. Luckily, I managed to get another male. For the latest shipment, I got a pair of sp. Diamond Face. Initially, Stones told me that they only had males. I have yet to look at them in details to check. This is a big problem which I am still wrestling with. Any bros have any idea how to solve this to expedite more apistos shipments to Singapore?

Re: Mass order of apistos - List

I don't think a order with a minimum order of 30-40 pieces for a single species would work out. There are so many apistos and everyone has different interests. Not to mention the lack of guarantees.

There are some apistos that just came in at JZX @ Angmokio though.
