Impressive tank!!!! I must say i'm amazed by the thickness of the vegetation, sloping effect and colour co-ordination. Lovely red plants you have there.

    Sorry for error!

Anyway, I guess its really tough to manage a tank full of stem plants. And to make it this lush and nice is really not a simple task! Great job!

    WOW!!

BTW, how often do you trim your plants to maintaint this effect? if i am not wrong, there are MM in the front. these are fast growers.

    Cheers!

OMG this is so beautiful, what a great job you have done. It's stunning. Bravo!!!

I'd also like to know how you raised the back so high? Did you stick rocks/wood in there and planted over them?

    Thanks for all the comments

Lorba, a high light tank full of stem plants is a pain in the butt! Makes me appreciate them more though

Heuer, I would trim this tank about every week. Sometimes, I would over trim and wouldn't have to trim for 2 weeks. You are correct, that is MM. It does grow rather quick, so I have to keep up on it to maintain shape and to keep it and the glosso separated.

Fei Miao, I did enter it. Hoping for the best Depending on how my other tanks come out, will determine if I submit it to AGA. Only 3 tanks allowed and I MIGHT have 4 scapes by then *LOL*

Hwchoy/Skyfish, the ONLY thing raised in this tank is the fake (embarressed to admit....but I did completely cover it ) rock that the anubias is on. This is my first tank and I didn't know what I was in for when I started. That rock was there from the beginning and I made the best use out of it I could. The rest of the plants in the back are just very tall and carefully prunned.

Victri, Lots of light and lots of ferts I have 2x55watts (3.8wpg) using AHsupply.com reflectors. The bulbs are GE9325's which help bring out the reds (well, one is 9325, the other is a 6700k to balance color). I dose Plantex CSM+B about 5x a week in this tank.

you would think that a 9325K bulb would be blue, but that is the fault of trusting Temps

They have a blueish "pink" tint to them. I believe they use more of the red and blue phosphors and less of the green. Using these bulbs alone washes out the green too much. Mixing with a 6700K bulb (which is a bit green) works well visually. If you just care about growth, then straight 9325's are the way to go!

Unfortunately, they only offer then in 55watt PC's. The NO tubes are worthless IMO.
