I have 4 pieces of this pencilfish and they are really nice. Unfortunately, none of the LFS I patronised has this at the moment. I should have bought more of this beautiful fish the previous time at JZX. Now I am looking at add a few more pieces and does anyone see this fish lately? Do they only come in certain season? Think their scientific name is nannostomus marginatus.
They are kind of rare locally, I think because they are not that popular compared to the golden pencilfish (Nannostomus beckfordi) and the coral red pencilfish (Nannostomus mortenthaleri) and coral purple pencilfish (Nannostomus rubrocaudatus), I have only seen them once at C328, in one of the small tanks at the side. You can either get the closely related coral red and coral purple or you can try looking for Nannostomus trifasciatus which looks kind of similar but thinner.
I was checking C328 last evening and they have only golden pencilfish. Ask auntie whether she brings them in, she answers yes but seasonal. She cannot confirm when they will come again.

I bought 2 coral purple pencil fish on Saturday. one of them is always in hiding and the other one always stays on the top. Think it develops internal bacteria as it cannot swim towards the mid or bottom of the tank and eventually it passed away last night. Heart pain

Ya they have the coral purple pencil fish but I am looking for the dwarf pencil fish, nannostomus marginatus. Price is a few time cheaper compared to coral purple or red pencilfish.
