How to adjust canister filter inlet length?

Hi guys! I just bought a atman df700 from NA this afternoon. It looks like a nice filter, however the inlet pipe length is too long! It extends all the way into my soil substrate if I put into my tank. Is there anyway to adjust the length? Does NA sell shorter pipe for this filter? Or will I have to saw it shorter?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, first time have this problem.

did you just fix the pipe on the longer opening instead? noworries, we all been through that stage. its all about trial and error. enjoy your tank setup

I actually just secure the pipe to a higher position above my tank using the suctions. Looks abit ugly from the outside, but its working already
