I had slow flow rate issue and need advice to troubleshoot.
    My setup was
    Tank → Prefilter → Ehiem 2226 (impeller remove) → Ehiem 1250 (1200l/hr) → Inline diffuser → Chiller → Tank.
With this setup, observed flow rate drop to 200l/hr. This flow rate is only 2x of my tank of 100l size.

As this, I try split the setup
    a) Tank → Prefilter → Y connector → Ehiem 1250 (1200l/hr) → Inline diffuser → Chiller → Tank.
    b) Tank → Prefilter → Y connector → Ehiem 2226 (950l/hr) → Tank.

With this setup, both output was optimize at least 70~80% efficiency however this will incur higher power consumption. The bottleneck is obviously at Ehiem 2226 but I had remove mechanical filter and it only left with biological filter only. Hope someone had answer to my problem.

    Re: Slow flow rate

In my experience, 1200l/hr of Ehiem 1250 is not powerful enough. I think need 1600l/h to pull the water from tank. Also, need to note gravity. : ) In the end - the pump still need to power thru' diffuser and reservoir at the chiller.

I think your current output is quite satifactory

Noted your advice however current setup consumed more power and chiller kick in time shorter moreover i need to reduce ehiem 2226 output flow. I was browsing ehiem 2076 but the price

Reduce? No need. Output flow will slow down as the system ages.

    Re: Slow flow rate

If open to maximum, it like washing machine. I saw the tetra & shrimp push further away. My tank is 100l where both pump roughly give 1500l/hr after some blockage. It mean at least 15x minimum. Really no issue to open maximum?

    Re: Slow flow rate

The filter will be damaged if you control the output flow valve. Eh so what's your actual problem? Flow rate too fast?

    Re: Slow flow rate

It was flow rate too slow (200l/hr) if using 1200l/hr pump only. So split 2 way (1200l/hr & 950/hr pump) and too fast i think.
