Hi, I intend to set up a 4ft open top tank with hanging light for my new house. But I heard some people say that the open top concept for tank may cause mould in furnitures and even my false ceiling especially for Singapore humid weather. Is it true?

I have no experience in this so will really appreciate if anyone can share their experience, thanks

I have a 3ft open top tank and has been running for 7 months with a fan and evaporation rate is high. So far no moulds on my false ceiling or furnitures. The only problem i faced was fish jumping out of my tank!

What you have been told is utter rubbish....mould usually get loudly in an moist enclosed environment....water seepage or not letting the bathroom air when hot water is used causing heavy condensation.

In an open top tank, it is in a room with open windows most of the time, and the water evaporation is not focused consistent steam onto the false ceiling or furniture...

2ft open top here, the only real issue I have are that fauna can jump out when it's too warm and water evaporates pretty quick, I top up about 500ml daily.

I've got a 2 ft tank for abt 6 months and no molding issues, only problem is shrimps taking their own lives and high water evaporation rate... Got to top up more often...
