    Hello gurus,

I am thinking of supplying 2 tanks with co2. I have asked LFS and they proposed buying a splitter. I am wondering any gurus/bros here have used an "air splitter to do the job?
    Would like to hear opinions/suggestions.

    Thank you in advance.

you cannot use air splitter, it was not design for the pressure. All air spliter is just on on off, no fine tuning. You need those that special design for CO2 pressure.

Some LFS use splitter to supply their multiple scape tanks from 1 big cylinder. You could go there and do an observation ?
i never use splitter since i only have 1 maintained tank

    Re: Co2

You may want to find out more on CO2 splitter instead of air splitter. I had one with 2 way heavy metal type. Each outlet has its individual control valve to adjust different CO2 pressure for different tank. The normal air splitter that don't have control valve may not work well. The air tend to go to a tube with a lesser pressure. Also, mine do not work well with the ph controller as both the tanks required different ph level. I can only monitor one tank. Anyway, that's my old problem.

    Re: Co2

If you want to use one Co2 cylinder to supply 2 aquarium tanks, then you'll just need a Co2 divider/splitter, here is an example which is designed for that purpose:

    2-way Co2 divider/splitter = http://freshnmarine.com.sg/estore/pr...oducts_id=2373

There are also 3-way and even 6-way Co2 divider/splitters too.

Really appreciate all the info here.

Now one.more query. the solenoid goes before this splitter? If so, that means bubble rate from a single solenoid controls both?

Yeah, the solenoid is connected to the divider/splitter, something like this 3-way example (shown with individual bubble counters):

    Photo from Google Images/eBay.

Each output will have its own bubble counter, so you can adjust the Co2 bps rate separately for each aquarium tank... though in such a setup, as the on/off timing for all the Co2 outputs are controlled by one electronic solenoid, all the aquarium tanks will have to follow the same timing schedule.

If you want the aquarium tanks to have separate Co2 timing schedules, then i guess you'll have to use separate Co2 cylinders with their own electronic solenoids.
