Should I add some tall background plant behind the breeding tube to fill in? Any suggestions?

for shrimp tanks you may want to keep it simple. Reason being so that you can see your shrimps moving around and keep track of them but by no means you cant plant more greens into the tank. Basically it is up to you on how you like your tank to be. some rotala may be a good choice perhaps?

What type of shrimp do you intend to put in? Look forward to see it.

Yes rotala would be a good choice. This tank would probably be either low grade crs or some type of neos.

Start with a bag of Sakura from C328.
    Add a cooling fan.
