    Hi folks,

How do i insert acrylic strips as partition in a new setup? after putting in the fert and gravel or before?

If before, how do i make the strips stand vertical and not move when pouring in the fert and gravel?

If i need to remove the strips after the setup, will i stir up the fert? Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

I read somewhere acrylic strips can be bend permanently using heat. is this true?

    Thanks for your advice.

    Cheers!

hi bro..i am currently using acrylic strips in my planted..this is to prevent fast growing plant to mix with the rest of the plants like tennelus...

i put the gravel and base fert first and then the acrylic strips..if the height of ur gravel is 3inches the cut the strip with a height of 3inch or a bit more to be safe..

the shape it u can put ur strip into an oven or toaster.juz give a bit of heat to make it soft... use towel to shape it as it is HOT...

its quite easy but u muz be careful not to get burnt with hot plastic..

it may if ur gravel isn't thick enough or u pull it quickly..
u juz pull it slowly a bit at a time so the weight of the gravel will bring the fert down...

If you want to stop vals from growing all-over-the-shop, you will be better exposing the plastic-sheet a lot more out of the gravel. The val I got used to take on the low-wall as easy as SOC's low-wall for fit-soldier.

My 4 ft tank is full of acrylic sheets. different from them, in a new setup tank, it is easier to put the acrylic sheets/shape in place. Glue them with silicone to prevent unecessary movement, thereafter the soil n gravel...

    Hi guys,

I will be setting up a new 4ft tank, thinking of using some partition with acrylic strips. Where to buy?
    Usual price how much?

    Thanks!

    Hi guys,

thanks for all the input. I am going to plant HC as the foreground and dwarf hairgrass at the side all the way to the back. there will be DW with errect moss in the middle all in a 2x1x1 ft tank.

i don't think HC/HG take the acrylic strips as a low wall right?

    Any comments on this?

    Cheers!

Plants with runners that creep above the gravel will need a protruding barrier. Those that run in the substrate don't.

Even then the above ground runners can grow over the strips. It's just that you can use the strips as a guide for cutting the runners that grow over the barrier.

Runners of Hairgrass will not climb acrylic strips. But Hairgrass may grow beyond it by going under.

    Don't have experience with HC.

this is interesting if HG can grow beyond the low wall by going under. i think only time will tell.

I don't see HC can cross the low wall. they are similar to glosso but much smaller.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice!

    Cheers
