outspoken, how big is this tank? Due to the size, the number of pairs and the presence of the guppies, any breeding attempts may not be as successful.

Bro vic,
The tefe and viejita are now considered common/farm-bred species. Most shop like C328,Y618 and AquaOne are selling them and their price range do not defer much. But so far after visiting all 4 shops in singapore except for stones aquarium, only C328 and Aquaone do bring in the same species quite often.
Ap.Viejita : $28-$35
Ap. Agassizii Tefe : $28-$35
Ap. Caca : $18-$25
Ap. Trifisciata : $18-$25
Ap. Panduro : $28-$35
Ap. Borelli : $28-$35
Hope it helps you in your search of your interested Apisto.
Bro stormhawk,
Yup.I do not intend to breed any of them at all. I already breed 2-3 of the pairs last time so putting in a few pairs to enjoy the gallery and also if any them died "touchwood" i could easily get a replacement because of their ready availability. Oh ya the guppies wasn't suppose to be there but because my daughters didn't take care of them in their small tank, they end up here.
I intend to bred in my other nano tank but still undergoing cycling. Btw the size of the tank is only 1.5FT tank cum cabinet.
In that case, you have a good number to diffuse any aggression. I'd suggest you add some extra hiding spots if possible so that they can establish mini-territories. That way you can see even more interaction between the species you have at the moment.

Noted.Actually background got a few caves as well. Only my viejita pair is shy and hiding inside the caves, the rest are always swimming around.
Bro Vic,
I will replied in the other thread which is more meant for it as the title shows.
Thank you so much bro Outspoken![]()
I think it is overcrowded. And they might kill each other soon. Either way, constant stress will render shorter lifespan of these fishes.
My 2 cents...

No Doubt Yes...Been monitoring the situation everyday and so far there is no aggression on just one particular male or female. Will have to wait and see if it can make it. Or Else have to move to my other empty tanks.
Wow ...and they don't fight? I have 2 pairs and all they do is fighting all lights-on time ....

The title below my name does not make me a guru...listen at your own risk!...
It seems like they don't really "fight" head on or lock mouth...more on just chasing each other but most of the time they gave up chase as there are always another bigger fish.. Even the females are flaring at each other but one will just swim away. Biggest size pair of Ap. Veijita is non-violent and non of the other apisto dare to challenge. But still have to keep monitoring everyday just in case one of them gave in.
I don't think this is recommended to anyone for this setup and conditions but for me personally, i wanted to give it a try and see if it works.
I got the same Aspito as in the 3rd picture....agree that they don't really fight head on or locking mouth....it just very tiresome to see them chasing one another all day long....![]()

I think it's bad news for me...due to my Tank low PH,all the females seems to be in breeding mode and today after seeing the Ap. Trifisciata Pair Guarding/Flaring one area...eggs already seen attached to the Tree Like DW.....Just hope the Breeding pair do not kill the rest.
hi bro Outspoken
What you should do is to decorate yr tank in such a way as to have separate areas where the different pairs can settle peacefully. Use long stem plants etc. to make sure they are out of sight with each other.
In my 3 ft square glass pond, I have a pair of Viejita, a pair of Caca Orange, a pair of Pandini & 6 steel blues (and glowlight & neon tetras, ottos, puffers). The Viejita & a pair of steel blues have picked their spots & I expect good news soon.
