    Re: Seachem Purigen

I only see seachem purigen selling in stores but So far have not seen any LFS selling the bag. Fortunately, you can get "the bag" from ebay at around $25 with shipping if you are willing to pay the premium price.

Polyart selling 250ml seachem purigen. The bag sold separately at sg.50.
Ask for the Ista brand bag,it is a better quality bag.

Look for the 100ml box version. It comes with "The bag".
Not sure where will have though locally. Long time no browse LFS

Amazon will have but you need to pay shipping or buy $125 to get free shipping.

    Seachem Purigen

I thinking of getting a couple of 100ml sachets Purigen from Amazon. Each Sachet cost about SGD10-11 (approximately). Anyone want to order? We can share the shipping costs.
As of now i tried ordering, the difference in shipping costs between buying 3 sachets and 10 sachets is as follows:

3 sachets: shipping cost about SGD10 (approximately)
10 sachets: shipping cost about SGD16 (approximately)

For those who are interested in getting themselves, can go to amazon and search "seachem purigen 100ml". Make sure the seller is "amazon" and not others because under "others" sellers, either they don't ship to SG or the shipping cost is alot higher.

    Re: Seachem Purigen

I have two such bags (brand new, still in original packaging) selling for $14 each or both for $26. These are more convenient than the loose form sold here as you don't have to mess around with getting a mesh bag that is sufficiently fine, for the purigen beads are indeed very small. PM me if interested.

    Re: Seachem Purigen

    Dear all

Any recommendation for suitable bags for purigen?

Seaview recommended one does not work as it leaks.

    TIA.

    Re: Seachem Purigen

You'll have to get those bags that are sort of cloth-like, check at LFS and see if they have stock of those (most of the mesh/netting ones have larger holes and tend to leak the tiny purigen granules).

Maybe you can also check at C328, i've seen them selling the 100ml Purigen packs that are already packaged in their original purigen bags.

Yeah, that works too... just have make sure to check it for potential gaps or tears regularly, or else the purigen will leak out and the tank will have tiny purigen granules floating everywhere.

I'm using this filter bag for tea leaf.

A pack of 3 for $1. I bought it at Seaview. I think you can also get it from NTUC, medical hall, etc.

    Re: Seachem Purigen

No pantyhose or teabags, will disintegrate inside filter in a short time, tried them all already. Only pvc material will last, like the Ista brand UA said, that is really good.

    Re: Seachem Purigen

Daiso sells those tea leaf filter bags too! $2 for a bunch

alternatively, also can try "sewing" thin layer of wool sponge into a media pouch like what i did for my slim HOB filter compartments and its cost effective in the long run~ $2 for a pack of MIKA wool can last for months
