    Hi there

I am setting up a 6 ft tank planted tank and have the following questions.

Does a 6 ft tank made of glass need to have braces? I am interested in an open top design with hanging light from bracket thus braces doesn't look good in such set up. I was told from local fish shop that all 6 ft will need to have braces, is this true?

Does the type of glass have any significant difference in clarity of the tank. There are float glass and crystal clear glass. Do they really have a difference beside price?

Lastly, PLEASE recommend any tank maker that provide good prices for the 6 ft tank.

Or if there is any one who is giving up a 6 ft tank with cabinet, do PM me. I will be interested to take over.

    Thank you!

ADA 6ft tank is braceless . Braceless tank need thicker glass.

Normal glass will have green or blue tint, crystal glass or low iron glass does not or minimum.

    Hi emm28

Are you staying in a private landed, private apartment, or HDB apartment? If you are in a private landed, a 180x60x60 is not a problem on the ground floor. For private apartment, it is advisable to seek MCST approval. If you are staying in HDB, it is best to apply for the licence first before buying the tank.

Re: 6 ft tank set up questions

Bracing for larger tanks is a norm.

    Braceless tanks are more costly.

Getting a second hand tank will be more cost effective.

Even then, be prepared to spend on accessories.

You can try the marketplace on online forums.
SG Bros can help with the moving of the tank, and sometimes, they have used/new tanks for sale.

If you are into planted setup, it can be quite costly if you make a new tank.

Besides the tank, adjust your budget for plant substrate, filters, filter media, plants, lights, fish.
