The 3ft tank too small for 9 lionchu. Nitrate will be very high. It will also very much depend on how frequent you are willing to do WC

    How about a 4*2*1.5? 3 days one WC 50%.

What filtration system would be recommended?

    Thanks.

4ft tank need 80% WC every 2-3 days as what I am doing now with the same number of lionchu. Better if you can going for bigger tank

Sump filtration pack to the max would be recommended

Re: ADVISE NEEDED: Tank Size & Filteration For Lionhead SVR

thanks deadend...decided to groom 3 ranchus about 3.5 inch instead of 9 in the following set up...please advise if ideal as that is the maximum space for my room to accommodate

    tank: 3*1.5"1.5 tank,
canister filter: atman uf-3400 canister filter with uv,
media: mixture of biohome & mr. aqua bio rings, chemi-pure active carbon, coral chips, wool
air pump: eheim air pump 3703

i was told that the water return from the atman could be connected to mr. aqua top filter trays to have both anaerobic & aerobic bacteria? is that true?

please gurus please advise before i dive in...THANKS

For ease of changing the wool for these poo generator, sump will be easier. Otherwise your setup should be enough

To use a sump, you gonna need to use a tank with an over flow compartment.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
