Wonder how long will a tank last before the silicon gives and the tank leaks?

I have heard that one would probably last up to 10 years. I used to have one that lasted for 3-4 years and was given to my cousin. No complains yet.

my one and only 4ft x 1.5 x 1.5 tank, all glass is about 20 years old ($40)

from simple freshwater community tank [:0]
    to simple marine tank [:0]
to plain freshwater single arrowana tank [:0]
to unsuccessful breeding pair of discus tank - frys eat parent skin but parent not happy and so eat frys []
to finally to heavily planted tank [] (thanks to Juggler - now almost as dense as Amazon and very messy!).

this tank went thru 3 house removals and has many scratches with unremovable stains but miraculously it does not leak and the silicon is well intact.
i am also wondering when it would give way? (touch drift wood )

just sharing an experience - beginner
