    hello,

parts of my black tetras' fins are turning transparent. The fins appear healthy and whole ie not tatty or shredded. Other than the colouration loss the fish look healthy and are feeding well.

    What could be the problem?

    thanks

any idea how old these tetras are? some fishes lose their colours when they grow older. It could be some illness.

hi. I've read that black tetras do fade to grey as they age but this transparent fin symptom is exhibited by the juvenilles in the group as well a couple of adults.

The colour loss is also not uniform across the entire fin, it occurs in patches. The entire fin would be black with a tiny transparent "window" at the edge or in the middle.
