depends on weather you want to keep shrimp and plant or keep fish and plant...
I think fish and plant is better to go for ADA...

It will be a planted tank, with rocks and the likes..the important thing to me is sustainability, with 2 kids now..and work, etc..I need this setup to be fuss free...I used ADA in the past, not too bad..I must say..

for planted tank you need to find out the composition of the soil if possible, nutrient level? How long can it maintain the nutrient? But I doubt you can find anything on the web, you might need to try and error
