    Hi,
been fighting green spot for quite a moment now.
Did research online and found this few ways:

Reduce lighting plus adding photo period
    Adding in fert
Grow a no. of plants to absorb in excess nutrient
    water changes

    only minor decrease
Green spot on plant still dun wanna go...

    Any suggestions ?

Green spot that growing on the plant will not go away, you need to trim it.

    Re: Green spot algae

Sorry. i refer to those that sticks on the glass.
i used a scraper to remove them but they keep coming back. (just lesser and slower )

Are there any other methods apart from trimming.
The plants that is cling on to are slow growing bucepha.

no other method that I new off. You can try take out the plant and soak in H2O2 or bleach and if you do use bleach don't forget to soak it with overdose antichlorine.

Look at your light intensity or if it happen your tank near the window that will normally cause green spot on the glass.

Agree with shadow too... i used to have nerite snails and they do munch on green spot algae, but after a while replace with lots of hard white eggs everywhere (glass, rocks, wood, plants etc), end up still have to use razor to scrape them off, solve one issue but another issue pop up.

nerite snail egg will not hatch in fresh water they need brackish water, so don't worry about population

Yeah, they need brackish water to hatch, but it doesn't stop them from laying lots of eggs around the tank. The main issue most people face with them is the dormant eggs are troublesome to scrape off and when they start to lay them all over your nice pieces of wood, rocks and plant leaves, it can become quite an eye sore.

That being said, nerite snails do have male and female genders, so its possible that if one is lucky to somehow only have male nerite snails in their tank, they will never see those eggs appearing. Guess i didn't have that kind of luck.

Btw, apparently the males have a skin fold around the base of their right eye... but so far even by squinting at them through a magnifying glass i've still not been able to ID them reliably enough though.

wait a minute, you mean YOU DIDN'T DO RESEARCH PRIOR TO BUYING CERTAIN LIVESTOCK?!?!?! next time before you buy a livestock, do some research on their water parameter, max size (again, i need to emphasize on this, >MAX SIZE<) and natural living habitat to avoid unnecessary stress and death. Fishes like Bichir, Gars and Red Tail Cat (RTC) can grow up to 2ft easily, but most LFS will not tell you that. Fishes like Clown Loach, they require very specific water condition and they can take a long long time to grow into giant size (sadly, most died before they hit that age or size).

    Re: Green spot algae

I am into the 3rd week of EI Dosing and apparaently I see some improvement in the GSA on the glass whereby it does not cover the whole glass but rather now accumulate like dots on the bottom only

Any way to completely get rid of them ?

    Frozenduck.
Don't worry i did my research before buying even consult with some oracle before buying.
i am definitely concern with the growth and feed. Ask the uncle all this before i make my purchase. It's just that ph was not a main concern when i am buying snail.
Would not repeat this mistake again.

BlessChwee i have the same problem too. i think that it's because of the light angle/ fast water flow at the top / nutrient is found in soil at bottom.
i think you can join me in my quest in search of nerite snails.

    Re: Green spot algae

Hmm I thought y618 always has a supply of horned nerite snails haha.
Maybe you can ask the auntie. I always remember seeing them in that small little container behind their counter.

C328 you can ask the auntie or uncle when they will bring in.

Anyway. NA at thomson has really huge zebra nerite. (saw them 3 weeks ago)
You might want to consider that too.
