Assassin Snails job

I have a couple of tanks with the usual small tiny snails in them. The question in how many assassin snails should I have in say my 1.5ft, 2ft and 4ft tanks to get rid of the tiny snails?


It seems that I bought some, place 2 pcs in my 2ft and 2 pcs in 4ft, they seem to be busy with the algae in the glass surface and the left over food pcs.

Can anyone care to share their experience?

I started with 5 pcs in my 2ft tank, now i have around 10pcs and getting more of them...lol

No more button snails for them to eat though...nice snail to keep...

anyone lost nerites to assassin snails before?

Depends on assassins and nerite size, but it happened to me in the past.

Assassins do seemed to eat nerites although I'm not sure if the nerite died first or were killed.
For assassins to eat button smails, I found that the smaller ones do a better job while the big old Assassins ignored the tiny button snails.

For my case, assassin never touch my nerites... So far so good...maybe i am lucky?

Hmm.. so far my assassin snails didn't touch my other nuisance snails.. in fact they are happily feeding of algae of the glass surface.. Anyway how small is considered the baby assassin snails? I tried to choose mine the smaller ones when I got them at Y618. They are about 1.5 cm to 2cm
