The MOSURA RO 5S is a 50 GPD (Gallon Per Day) Reverse Osmosis Water Filter system designed for shrimp and fishes use in mind. It has a propriety stage of prefilter which removes chlorine and chloromine even before the tap water reaches the carbon stages, this design prolong the live of the carbon filter and increase water safety for use with sensitive shrimps.

Parts that come in this package:
1) Mosura 6 stages RO filter
2) 6 meter soft tube
3) Sink tap facet connector
4) General purpose facet connector
5) RO membrane housing wrench

Stages (in order of water flow):
1) Sediment Filter, Melt Blown Polypropylene filter removes larger particles such as dirt, rust & sediment.
2) 3C Neutralizer neutralize chlorine, chloromine and reduce contaminants
3) Carbon filter removes chemical contaminants in the feed water and protects the RO membrane.
4) Reverse Osmosis Membrane (50 gallon of water per day) Thin Film Composite Membranes reduces dissolved minerals, metals, and salts. In this process, harmful compounds are separated by the membrane from the water, and the contaminants are flushed to the reject water outlet.
5) Post Filter Carbon, A coconut shell activated carbon post filter is provided for a final "polish".

Installation
1) Locate the 3 connections, namely Water In (tap water in) which is found on Stage 1, Reject Out which in found on Reverse Osmosis Membrane housing and Good Water which is found on Reverse Osmosis Membrane housing.
2) Off your tap water supply, connect the Sink tap facet connector (Part 3) and use General purpose facet (Part 4) connector if needed. Use of teform tap on the facet connector is necessary.
3) Cut the soft tube to desirable length and use the soft tube to connect between the facet connector to inlet, Water In. Read below to how-to insert and remove tube into quick connect inlet.
4) Disconnect the joint between carbon block filter and RO membrane housing.
5) Turn on the tap water, to let it flush the first 3 stages of the system for 5 minutes, discard this water at flowrate of 600ml per minute.
6) Off the tap water and connect back the joint which you have disconnect in Step 4)
7) Cut another piece of soft tube to desirable length and connect it to Reject Out. Water produces at this outlet is rejected water, which may contain high level of contaminants, metal or salt which cannot be used in shrimp tank. This water maybe good for general house washing and plant watering.
Use the leftover soft tube to connect to Good Water, water produces at this outlet is good for shrimp tank.
9) Turn the tap water on and let run for 60min, discard all the water. 10) Your RO water filter system now is ready to produce clean water.

Use of Quick connect Inlet
To insert soft tube, remove the blue security ring, push in the collet, insert and push in the soft tube. Place the blue security ring. With the collet held in this position and security in place, the tube can be removed. The fitting can then be re-used.

To remove soft tube, remove the blue security ring, push in the collet, pull out the soft tube. Place the blue security ring.

Maintainance
Your RO water filter system should produce less then TDS 10ppm water when the filter cartridges are new. Last stage, Post Filter Carbon may add a few PPM into the RO water, that is normal.

It is recommended to backflush the RO membrane once per month. To backflush, remove the flow restrictor as show in the below diagram, turn on the water and let it run for 10min. This will prolong the membrance lifetime.

You need to change Stage 1, 2, 3 and 4 cartridges very 6 months. Depending on usage, more frequent maybe necessary, you can determine the frequency by checking the TDS of good water. The RO membrane need to change every 2 years. The cover of the RO house can be removed with the help of a wrench.

Recommended Mosura Products to go with RO water.
ShiZhen Power - add fluvic acids, antioxdiant and multivitamins to the water. If there is an tiny amount of residual chlorine, chloromine and contaminants, Shizhen powder is able to remove or lock them up. Use 1/2 of standard dosage for RO water.
Mineral Plus (Ultra) - RO water lack of minerals and mineral plus replenish the RO water with necessary mineral for shrimps to grow and molt.
TDS Up - In some case and some species of shrimp, a higher TDS is necessary for their well being and coloration. Use Mosura TDS up to increase the TDS.
pH Down - Soil acidic level drop as time go by, use this to adjust pH of water before changing.
pH Up - Initial soil pH maybe too low, use this to adjust pH up. Also some shrimps like Sulawesi prefer high pH.
