hi all, many types of plants chat group going around.
since a long time when i started keeping planted, lotus have always been 1 of my fav.

of course not forgetting new love of bucephalandra too.
this little baby was given to me by a kind bro on this forum. planted it and it didn't grow for 1 month due to some problem with tank and filter etc. however, realised this month, it is growing FAST!

just within 1 week+, it have grown out 2 leaves.
just sharing them here. wondering when will the flower come out.

lets all share your fair share of experience growing lotus and its name for us all to share?

not sure what this lotus is. but its green based.

    Re: lotus plant talk

Very soon it will be flowering. I have also sighted many lotus plants in many tanks recently.

I am also very interested in putting a red tiger lotus into my future new tank!

    Re: lotus plant talk

initially wanted to get tiger lotus because of the redness. but wehtn LFS and aunty no stock. ended up someone giving it online so went to pickup from him. now it is doing well in my tank. felt good about.

maybe lotus gives the feel of elegants and "faerie" kinda of feeling thats why i like it alot. it is like showing it is the boss in the tank type.
too bad my tank too small else will go for more. but this lotus is placed right behind my BW as background. thus far it have grown alot and is taking up the final shape that i'm aiming for. hope it will maintain its beauty.

    Re: lotus plant talk

@Armageddon... if you want your lotus to stay submersed, you should have cut off the floater (emersed) leaves...unless floater leaves is what you want. Ones a floating leaf has reach the surface, all other leaves will be floaters.

Errh....Armageddon....I could be wrong but if I remember correctly, once the floater leaves starts, it just keeps coming. It does not products submersed leaves anymore or takes a very long time before it does.

Perhaps someone with Lotus experience can share on this point?

May I ask does the banana plant requires a lot of light and CO2 to grow?
Fish keeping is not a good hobby unless you received support from your family to keep them.

    Re: lotus plant talk

Banana plants seems easy to maintain. Got 3 of them. They seems to grow well in my tank. Temperature is 28-30, no co2. Just dose Borneo wild growth daily.

I doubt so for banana plant. This banana plant itself will grow roots. The roots will grow deep into the substrate and hold itself there while the leave would grow big. Recently i re-scape my tank and move my banana plant out from one tank to another tank. I am surprise to find my plants have grown roots, it is about 15cm long and 5mm thick. The leave will grow big but still the whole plant is submerge in water.

no problem with sudo fine sand. As previously mine grow well in both tanks using sudo sand, now i move them to quartz base... lol

I got mine from seaview and C328. Hardly see them now.
