ask around in LFS, most of them do sell in bulks of 50s, but its usually kept inside their "storeroom". EOA need to pre-order around 1 week before the collection date.
Can anyone point me to where i can get large number of red cherry shrimp?
About 100 - 150 pieces.
To my knowledge, so far only SV has this amount. but their RCS is really.... and survival rate is one of the lowest in my experience.
Thanks

Thanks Berny,
I have previously contact a few LFSes. i am hesitant to get from LFSes because when the shipment arrives to the shop, the casualty rate for the shrimps is very high.
The shop suffers the casualty rate and thus price the shrimps that survive higher.
If i get from the LFS and take the shipment direct. I think i will be taking on the losses as well as the higher price?
I understand that LFS sell shrimps at a lower price for bulk purchases, but that price to me is not that worth. thats my opinion.
Hence i am leaning towards hobbyist that have a large number of RCS to let go. But i know i cannot post a WTB... so... anyone can point me in the right direction?

Just curious, do we have a shrimp farm in Singapore?

just curious.. why do you need such huge amount of RCS?
Because i am doing up a planted shrimp tank.. have about 20 now in there, find that too little. Need to accumulate critical mass.
I have a few endlers in the tank, due to inspection from mosquito inspectors.. say i need fish to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs..
Endlers eat my shrimplets. my shrimp population is growing toooooo slowly (if not none at all).
If i can get enough shrimps in, when they reproduce, the endlers will not be able to eat them all, hence will have a growing population of shrimp.
My endlers all male. so will not reproduce.

Sorry, but that's a pretty flawed logic to me, I see where you're coming from, but if i'm not wrong, shrimp's incubation period is about 30days, during that 30days, anything can happen, including the berried shrimp getting eaten. Instead of adding in more shrimps, why not:
1. remove endler and let shrimp increase population before adding in more (while pellet training the endler at a seperate tank), Increase water movement to prevent stagnant water for mosquito breeding for time being.
2. Increase the hiding area for shrimps to retreat to safety
Adding in shrimps is only a short term solution, think about how many shrimps you have to add in a long run, just to "feed" the endler and maintain the population?

Uncle Eric,
You can try y618, they do sell in bulk i asked them before, you can direct order with auntie and collect on the next Wednesday normally.
If you lazy to order, just go on wednesday after work, they normally have fresh supplies in bags (50 pieces per bag). They are snapped up fast though... let me know if you are going, we go together... haha

Why get endlers? You can get smaller fishes like Boraras brigittae which are more shrimp friendly.
They tend to stay near the surface and should be able to take care of possible mosquito larvaes.

i do agree with using boreas.
smaller mouth less casualties, not no casualties.
question, why you on hot list? nea regularly visits my zone and my place for water sampling. all they get are seed shrimp![]()

Agree on the fish choice. I have endlers in my other tanks, so I just port over some..
I also don't know why I am on hot list. The first time she came in, she immediately said I need fish in the tank... I explained to her my tank is shrimp tank and cannot take fish.. She said its either fish or chemicals. Then she took notes...
About 3 weeks later she came back for a visit... I had the 5 endlers since then. Brought over from my other tank.

tell her go fly kite. so much surface agitation how the mosquito lay egg?

I've used an internal filter with 0 surface movement at all. no visits. what I suspect is that the block you stay in, is a dengue cluster. meaning that there are some dengue cases, which leads them to house visits

Is woodlands in the dengue cluster? There were some construction work going on, new Community centre.. but that centre is up and running.. Sigh. Maybe i am too handsome? Or my tank too nice, must come visit and see.
The last visit was early August. lets see when she comes around again... fingers crossed. The last time she came, i think she was pretty satisfied. Though outside my flat at the common corridor a lot of puddles due to clogged drainage..

Nea officers are doing their best to curb possible dengue breeding, they are following protocols..well can't blame eric for being too handsome and attracts mosquitoes and nea officers ... Lol
Btw eric, i remember our area was yellow zone in july but cleared to green zone in august... Raining season is back, better safe than sorry.
I think someone must have seen your huge tank when you move in or when they passed by and inform nea to check on you, nosy neighbours might be the real cause.
Officers did visit my house once, no comments except praises for my beautifully scaped aquariums....lol but no repeated visits as i am not as handsome as you.
To me no fish is shrimp safe except oto. Some small fish can really make the scape livelier...
