Help: my Jewel Cichilds spawning

Hi Veterans,

I got a batch of Jewel Cichilds from a brotherbin AQ. 4 weeks ago. Now a pair is spawning in my community tank. Please see pictures below:

What should I do now? Move them to another tank? When?

Hi Paul, keep the fries and observe the brooding pair. Cichilds behaviour is quite amazing even for myself.

Hi bro,

Thanks for your advice. I will provide update as follows:

A. The first time when my Jewel pair spawn, due to the situation in the tank, we provided a cave for them to house the eggs without moving them. However, the next morning immediately, they ate all the eggs. Very sad moment.

B. On Saturday last, they spawn again. This time more eggs. We ensure they were not distributed. However, on Monday morning we found all the eggs again disappeared. We observed the pair and their surroundings but found nothing. They are still circulating at the place they spawned.

Now we are waiting for them to spawn again. Hopefully they do. Let's see and keep our figures cross.

If you have any experiences or suggestions, please advice. I will appreciate it very much.

hi Paul, my suggestion is always leave the parents alone. once they gain more experience, they will be more 'zhai' aka steady. they will always eat the eggs or fries if the parents feel threatened. this is especially for first time parent : )
