Gosh ...now rocks are sold by the kilo...now hardscape rocks are sold like durians....:/
Nice, your wife want to see you enjoy the hobby.
Erm, on the bright side you walked the same path of filter pumping water backwards to DIY co2. Just like me hehe.
About point 3, are you saying your focal grabber rock is $8 per KG? GC was $9-10 in the old days (plain grey ones) you should pop by one day & you might like what they have there.
Did you soak them in bleach then rinse away until no more bleach smell? That's fastest way i know. but then... so far ok is good enough

Yah man, spend almost a hundred buck on rocks at GC and still not enough for my 2ft. Thus the simple rocks place now lol.
Eric, if you want to have the aging effect on your rocks, you can try the grinding or chopping of mini Fissidens. Take the rock out, rub the grind or chopped mini fissidens and rub it over your rocks. You will need to do a DSM for a week or two for the fissidens to attach onto your rock surface before having it back into the water.
A good read for you http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f...dens-rock.html . I tried and it's working on my rocks, I was skeptical thus only use very little fissidens on my rocks previously hahah.
@ingen...one day when you do get your BIG TANK and need hardscape rocks...find your way to KL.
I take you to Ipoh Query and you take all the rocks you want...some as big as 2 feet in diameter....HAHAHAHA
IT'S FREE!!!!!

Missed out the link:1. Yeah. I was also worried about the HM. Initially, bought only 1 odyssea T5 2x24W, then an advice from Roger (from Fishy Business) that light might be insufficient due to the amount of plants and taki considerations the height of the tank, this is what I got:

My initial "going to fail" plan on a DIY CO2 system:
Sugar + Yeast + Bicarbonate of Soda Solution:
Failed quite substantially, spent pretty long hours getting it fixed. The whole DIY is a good enough system, just that my set-up of the use of CO2 mixer, kept push the CO2 back into the bubble counter despite the check valve. So to think of giving up the mixer plan. I went ahead with this:
CO2 Cylinder with Electric Solenoid (install and walk away)
connected to my simple bubble counter:
and finally connected to my Ista mixer in the tank:
Well, the story of my CO2 supply.

Itchy hands me, today I dropped by Teo's Aquatic Plant Supplier to walkwalkseesee. And I got myself these:
Rotala at the bottom and the one at the top, something like a “中囯菊花” cannot really remember the name, anyone care to ID? Thought they look pretty nice, within my expectation of an aquatic plant within my tank. And I got a couple of pretty empty spots behind my wood and rock that wouldn't mind some company, I got them with expense of some knowledgable information exchange with one of the guys there.
Set them in my tank and thought they look pretty okay. And yes! I removed the dead moss on my rock and replaced them with some "alive" Christmas moss, courtesy of Rogor (Fishy Business):
