David, thanks for spending much effort to advice me. Your long info must have taken long to write, it has definite enlighten me.
@bennyc. getting for what size tank (and height). what lighting your using now.
i would suggest a wait see what comes next. If your lighting not good now, just get razor hang higher if you need spread.
If you have issues with hanging, do check out my latest DIY not posted in fourm but on my blog LOL.

Felix, i just thinking of diy my own hanging stand. I have seen many nice parts in tabao. Care to share the breakdown in cost and where did you buy the items.
Many thanks.

Joints from tabao, i ask a friendly & steady bro help me get. Kudos to him.
Reason: the pipe i can get at hardware shop next to my block. Not very thick but anytime can custom my personal sizing as i have pipe cutter & pvc pipe cutter. The joints however, getting a custom drilled pipe with locking screw, the maker will bare fangs and knife. The uncle in hardware shop agree tabao would be cheaper for the joints.
Total costs: less then $55, excluding the hanging kit for the MHX & SS hooks i bought from value dollar shop. Pipes will include cutting if you have exact sizing. The ones that come in the set using those joints are thicker and will need machinery to cut. But thicker would increase price of shipping.
P.S, i will PM you exact price for SS pipe & link to exact shop where i got it.

More and more poison.. I shall wait and wait..
But 5W without dimmer function, not sure it will be an overkill. Later become algae factory

I'm looking for another set of Green Element Evo 3w LED for planted tank. It seems that I bought the last set at East Ocean and they don't know when they are restocking. Maybe there is a model change or something like that?
In the meantime, if Singapore no more stock because of possible model change, are there any alternatives in the "less than $200" price range.
I want to replace the Up-Aqua Z series LED which I feel isn't bright enough so the recommended set must of course be brighter (rated >20w ). I put the Z-series LED directly over stem plants, the stem plants grow towards the Evo 3w light instead![]()
Sorry to dig out this old thread and I just dropped by at EOA yesterday and I saw the steel hanging bracket costs around70+ so maybe it is better to buy off shelves to save the hassle of drilling here and there.
The new evo 5w is due to arrive after CNY and I am also waiting to see how this new unit work.

Wah, 5w could be hang higher so that the lightset would not be seen together with the tank.

I have gotten a good deal for a brand new set of maxspect razor 120w 8000k from irwana, the price is slightly more exp than the 5w 2ft set.
I'm planning to get a 4 ft evo 3 watts led.
Anyone knows the difference between the odyssea 3W light set and the green element 3W light set?
