Anyway will try to answer your questions based on my current knowledge.
1) So far i've not heard of any apistogramma that are monogamous. They will breed with different females and females will
also accept most males when she is ready to breed. Most hobbyist will use the combination of 1 male to 2 females if the pair
that they had is not pairing up. Once 1 pair is paired up,you may need to remove the other female before the pair may kill her.
If not,you may need to remove the male counterpart and let the female settle down and be comfortable with the surrounding
before adding back the male. Also may need to add more hiding place for the female to shelter.
2) I've not heard of Ap. Bitaeniata Red wild but mostly trade name is Ap. Bitaeniata red back. You may want to check if they are
the same.
