have bought many type of small HOF..classica..dymax..gex slim..still have those little motor sound when in the middle of the night v quiet time. any bros here can advice any almost dead silent small hang on filter?

You can try the Dophin H-80 hang on filter... its compact and only 185 l/ph (consumes only 2.5 watts), super quiet.
I bought it a while back as a spare filter for my quarantine tank and always amazed by how silent it is, can't even hear it running when i put my ear close to it.
I think it maybe the soft noise of vibrations. It could be internal or external where the motor contact the filter. Perhaps, you can try stuffing some foams in between?
My friend's nano tank is on Fluval C2, I did not realised its running on HOF till he told me so, surpisingly quiet. The trick to keep it low noise is to install with pre-filter elements. Hope it helps.
