My mom was spraying insect repellent around the room. I notice the fan was blowing towards my tank direction. Seconds later i saw both of my tank's shrimps twitching across the tank then stop moving in midwater and sink to the base. Been 30 minutes, some still twitching all over the tank, some motionless, some lying sideways. fishes and snails are all fine. =( seems like they cant make it till tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that. The insect repellent may have polluted the water abit. The only thing you can do is perform some water changes for the next few days. Sometimes accident happens.

    Quickly do a water change.

after that add active carbon to remove the poison in the water.

    hope that will help.

As the product description, it does help.

no harm trying. Do one only don't do both. Eg active carbon and Purigen.

TS, as long as there is a shrimp tank in the house. Try avoid insect repellent/spray.

Any traces of mist/spray/droplet/microscopic molecules (it's that serious) drops onto your tank, that's it.. Be prepared to see shrimps swimming around frantically and after awhile, they will 'sleep'..

Believe most of us been there and done that.. So just take note next time...

As per what bro ken has mentioned, put in active carbon (sachet of carbon) into the place where there is flow in the tank and do water changes every 3 days if possible.. I don't know if your shrimps can take the every 3 days water changes but it's better then having insecticide in the water..

    Good luck..

Try to 'remove' all the insecticide from the water now.. There will be traces inside..

Carbon will help absorb the residual pesticide chemicals... Purigen wouldn't help as effectively in this case as it mainly absorbs excess organic compounds, not so much for chemicals.
