It's quite a good gadget but the problem is you have to wash it every other few days, which is quite subjective to the feeding habit. Plus point is it does really cleanse the water surface very fast.
Fish keeping is not a good hobby unless you received support from your family to keep them.
Thanks for the heads up. I am just getting a little sick and tired of the Ehiem surface skimmer, the one attached to the filter...it's big it's green and ugly! With this I have an option to either go glass or get the Ehiem in and out pipe...the or that is transparent and adjustable.

This is a piece of very expensive piece of toy.
not good for very small fish.
already saw a video of fish going in the intake![]()

how?....the gaps of the float head is high and the slit to allow the protein film to flow into the skimmer is very shallow?

ask fujisasuke, his fish Boreas.. went right in lol.
feel the slits big, similar to my modded skimmer. for mine, yamato shrimp managed to swim in from the slit right into filter. but for skim 350, its a certain death.
need to try it for myself to find a real feel..

I used a netting found to wrap pomelos and cable tied it under the floats.

actually, the powerhead of the recently launched stuff all seems same.
why ehiem never launch one with swappable section?

Just got myself one today. Must say it's extremely efficient. Cleared my protein layer within 15mins. Extremely easy to set up too. Doesn't really require u to shift the height too much. I do agree that the slits are rather large. Can imagine a shrimp flying straight in.

I have been using for 2 weeks. So far so good. No problem with small fishes going into the skimmer. I have adjust the inflow rate to the smallest.
It departs your co2 fast to the air, don't turn it on non stop during your co2 period. Accidentally caught my DC just stay dark green, where i used to get light green.
Use timer instead.
In the other side, it's skimming well, higher than my initial expectation.
Turn on during night time, might help with the gas exchange process, more surface agitation more o2 more benefit aerobic bacteria growth, more tank healthiness.
milk...how long do you turn it on for?

1 hour during light ON period, and mostly ON at night. Our miles might vary, though it's fine in my 3ft tank

Things that i don't really like while using this is, it sucks the fish food too. Since i feed my fish with floating pellets, and worrying it might create ammonia or toxic build up inside the filter chamber.

Yes. Saw that. It's a china rip off of the ADA version. And as you can see it's also 3x the damage. Unless of cos aesthetics is of utmost importance.
