Eheim Pro 2 2028 with a Eheim1260 Pump

Hi All

May I know whether it possible to start a Eheim Pro 2 2028 (power off) with a Eheim 1260 pump?

Like to use it a Pre Filter with a DBM-250 chiller.

Yes you can but do not pack too much filter wool and ensure the media basket are seated properly or the water you intend to filter would be bypass by the gap. Remember to remove the impeller from the 2028 too!

Or, if you have not bought the 2028 yet, a 2nd hand 2215 or 2217 might be an alternative model to look into. Stuff some cheap filter wool between the 2 media plate and you're good to go! I am using a 2217 in such configuration previously to vacuum my marine display tank and sump.

Thank BFG for the information, never in my mind to remove the impeller.
By the way for 2215 or 2217, do i have to remove or off anything to use it as a prefilter ?

Remove the impeller should be enough.

Eheim now sells the classic series as a sub filter. It comes without the impeller. Cheapest is around $50. Worth a look if you are just looking at a prefilter.
