    Hi all,
I am not an engineer. I have an idea, comments are welcomed.. i am not sure about feasibility.. so want to throw the idea out.

Idea is to create an all in one sensor module that controls fertilizer through a dosage meter and CO2 by starting or stopping a solenoid.

device draws power from the solenoid and thus will require some rewiring. its power --> device --> CO2 solenoid

the CO2 module is from here,
    http://www.aquatictechtank.net/viewtopic.php?t=11
    Color sensor module
    http://reibot.org/2011/05/28/color-d...o-for-under-5/
    Flow rate module
    http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php/topic,8548.0.html

    All credits to original authors.

there would be 3 models. Entry, intermediate, high end.
Differences lie in the equipment of the sensors.

    High end model will include
    1. PAR sensor module
    2. CO2 / PH membrane
    3. self cleaning flow sensor in the flexible tail
    4. WIFI and bluetooth

    Mid range model
    1. LUX sensor
    2. color sensing module for Co2(with LED light for illumination), pre calibrated
    3. no flexible tail for flow sensor
    4. bluetooth only

    Low end model
    1. Solar panel for light sensing
    2. color sensing module for CO2 (with LED light for illumination), pre calibrated
    3. no flexible tail
    4. bluetooth only

all models comes with a water proof bluetooth connected on board computer. control of the computer is from app installed on mobile phone. app will carry features to help program
    1. CO2 on/off based on light and time and PH values
    2. CO2 monitoring (on the high end model, WIFI can be used for offsite monitoring)
    3. remote on/off of co2 for the high end model.

Alot of other features can be coded in. Afterall this is a complex hobby.

i don't know whether this idea is out there already, neither do i know whether this is possible in the first place.

Eric...what you want is already in the market. Its a device from Neptune Systems....it does EVERYTHING!!!! from PH control via CO2, to PMDD to Lighting timing to Filter drip Shut off....you can even do it over a smart phone....It is developed for Marine but it can be adapted to planted.

PS: The only thing it cannot do for you is to make your bed and get you breakfast....

I successfully do my tank without doing any kind of measurement, doing it for fun maybe but I do not think adding sensor will make my tank any better.

EI also need to measure right? PPM PPM PPM PPM.

anyways, i was thinking, for this kind of sensor control, we can create programs or models based on hobbyists. Its like we will have the EI model. once they switch the program to follow EI, the dosage, CO2 will be ramped up to follow EI.

Then we can have other profiles that are non EI or customised profile for those advanced users.

no need lah, EI (Estimate Index) just theoretical calculation, use calculator to estimate no need accurate.

Oooh ho ho Felix...if I can automate water change without me having to do anything, I would have done it.....If I had the money....perhaps I will hire those bikini clad beauties....like the ones that do the car wash thingy... to do weekly tank maintenance...
