    Hi,
I am using 4 tubes of 3ft flourescent lights in 2 casing of the Atman 4ft light casing. Each of these tubes is 30W.

Can anyone tell me where can I get a higher watttage 3ft flourescent lights? My Glosso is not glowing the way I want it to grow. I was told that my lights are insufficient for my 4ft tank.

I want to incur as little cost as possible, can I just change to a higher wattage light tubes?

    Thanks.

    MS

    Hi,

Sorry to say that all fl 3ft lights are 30 watts. You might need to change your light casing to house a longer fl tube. I would suggest you put more lights instead.

A higher output tube of 3ft length will be T5. 3ft T5 HO (high output) tube is 39W. However, you will still need to replace the ballast as your existing ballast can only support about 25W to 30W.
Another option is to chage everything to PL set. Your Atman casing can fit in 2X36W+2X55W maximum. Total output will be 182W.
To convert to T5 or PL, be prepared to spend $70 onwards depending on the total output you require.

    Hi Barbarik, I convinced.
OK, based on my existing 4ft Atman casing, what ballast should I buy and how to fix? Where can I buy the T5?

I live in Tampines, there is an electrical shop in central that I frequent. What brand name should I be looking for?

I just want to change 1 casing, that is for the foreground. The rest of the plant at the back is doing alright.

    Thanks!

Maybe you want to check out Nature Aquarium at Thomson.

He will help you in this but for a cost of course.

    Hi ms,

    I doubt(or maybe) you can squeeze in 2x55W and 2x36W in a 4 footer.
See mine, squeeze like mad, I diy myself.

As what you have is 4 ft Atman casing. Then you would be able to squeeze 4x36W PL or 2 x 54W T5 into each casing. There are enough people to help you convert when you want.

    Re:

If you are resourcefull enough, Atman casing can fit in 2X36W+2X55W. I am selling 4ft set with that configuration. Buy 1 from me to believe.

BTW, 2X36W+2X55W on 4ft Atman casing will have the ballasts within the casing too.
