    Hey all!

Wanna get some ideas on updating the rear of my tank. It's got rotala at the moment and I wanna change to something that doesn't require much maintenance.

Also thought about adding another piece of driftwood at the rear but I think it might be difficult to match the same style and color.

    Thanks!

    My 2 cents.

the tank has a very nice mid ground. back ground has to contrast out in order for the user to focus on the midground.

That being said, contrasty plants i can think off that matches..
    1. Tall Hair grass (moderate care i believe)
    2. crinum natans (low to moderate care)
    3. valisnera (heavy to moderate care), giant, corkscrew.. i think anything will work.
4.Aponogeton crispus 'Red' (low to moderate care)
I am balding but i am still young!

    Re: Rear plants idea

Thanks for the suggestion! I quite like the idea for talk hair grass but was thinking if it will make my tank too boring. The aponogeton crispus red should make my tank more intersting with the mix in colors.. You reckon I should mix in some green and reds or just reds will do?

Actually what I don't like about the rotala is that it keeps having black tips where I trim the off. Make it a very unsightly background over time

    Cheers!

if it was me, i will want the focus to be on the mid ground, if i were to add reds, i would choose some short red plants like alternatha reckneckii mini, 3 stalks in the mid ground.

background i will go with tall hair grass.

Thats my opinion though, hope you can decide and show us the final state!

Maybe add some higher stem plants in the background?

I would advice against Vals because they propagate by runners and once established, they spread like wild fire. I would recommend this

The Echinodorus Vesuvius...looks like Vals but they don't spread like Vals.
