may i know what the best way to clean second hand eheim substrate pro and biohome plus before i reuse it?

There are discussions on other forums where they say use hydrogen peroxide to "unclog" old bio-media.

Treating with chemicals is not exactly necessary. Just rinse it clean and sun dry as what urbach has mentioned. Once the media is fully dry you can reuse it.

normally for 2nd hand medias, i will just rinse them and sun bake them

If the medias looks stained with dirt or you're afraid that it has pathogens, use Hydrogen peroxide. 500ml costs only $6+ from Unity.

If i know the history of the medias and its well maintained, i might just carry it home wet and use it after a short rinse in tap water.

If i am not sure of the history, i will boil it. if too volumous, put into media bags. Drench multiple times in boiling water (pulling and shaking the bags for better drenching, dry, then use.

I would usually rinse it with hot water and sun dry them to rid off germs bacteria and other unwanted stuff.

I wonder if these used media, if we placed them in a container of water and apply vibration, would all the gunk trapped in the pores be released? I happened to use this method to clean my nitro rc car roller bearing in the past.

Like that when using an ultrasonic cleaner? I tried a few before, yes they do remove a little dirt, but not all. A few of my Mr Aqua ceramic rings broke due to the vibration though..

Rinsing with hot water and sunning it would kill most germs but if you want to clean the inner pores or crevices of medias like the Biohomme, than you need to use Hydrogen Peroxide.
