E-Ballast?

Out of curiosity, i opened up my 2 x 36W PL earlier this afternoon to take a look at its inner working. Attached hereby is a pic of the ballast i took:



Anyone can enlighten if this is an E-ballast or iron core ballast?

Is it heavy? If so, it's iron core. Electronic ballasts are very light.

The best way to tell is that an iron core ballast requires a starter. (See the (S) symbol in the schematic drawing.) There is also only 2 connectors for the tube.

it is an iron core ballast.
and it will be hot while it is in operation.

Many thanks for the reply. Indeed it is an iron core ballast as there are starters in the casing.
