Would like to enquire from those who bought this. I just recently bought this set. The coverage seems not as good as 2 x 45 cm evo18 green element lights. I m using this on my 60x45x45 cm tank and it seems dimmer. I tried raising it higher and found the coverage better. Anyone encounter the same issue? Have to buy an ANS metal bar hanger to hang my lights for the better coverage.

The colour rendition of this light set is superb though and I absolutely love the dimming function

you bought local set for the evo green element? local sets do not have the lens which focus the light like magnifying glass. better strength at the cost of coverage loss...

maxspect with the stand if still cannot find joy. then a hanging stand is might be a good choice..

Do not under estimate the intensity of this light set. Eye balling the lights is not a true gauge as the color temperature comes to play.

Your Maxspect should come with stand. Use it and since your tank is 45cm in height and 60cm in length, there should be more than enough coverage

There are shadows. Thats why I think the coverage is not enough for 45cm breadth.

Raising it higher I find that there are less shadows. However, you are right, the plants are bubbling crazily at 70%B and 30%R

Take a Picture. Shadow does not mean there is no light there. I am using 2 x 120 Maxspect for a 120cm x 60cm x 50cm and the plants at the back are still growing like mad. I have cut down the intensity to 65 percent.

I will be really careful of your A and B percentage.

Re: Maxspect razor 120w 8k coverage

I don't have the 120W version of this light yet (placed an order, not delivered yet), but I currently run the 60W and 180W versions. For the 60W version, I find the spread just sufficient for 30cm breadth if using the supplied stand at the highest notch. If I use the middle notch, the lack of spread near the top of the tank is obvious as my stem plants start to grow towards the middle instead of growing straight up. No such issues if I raise it.

I believe the stand that comes with the 120W and 180W versions are not as high as the highest notch on the 60W version (60W version comes with 3 heights to adjust, 120W and 180W versions not adjustable). For my 180W version, I use the Maxspect Mazerra mounting instead, which is higher than the supplied stand, and it is sufficient to cover my 3x2x2 back to front. For my 60W version, I now use the ANS Hydrobar to hang it about 10 inches above the water and the spread is sufficient to cover my 45cm office tank.

TLDR: I am of the view that the supplied stand is not high enough to ensure sufficient light spread.

Curious, what has depth got to do with shadows?

Do you mean that the hardscape that you have is casting shadows?

Our eyes can only decipher light intensity by comparing them side by side. intensity only. not CRI or PAR. If you are only after light intensity, a normal studio light meter can help.

To get a clear reading for planted tanks, a PAR meter is required.

I think AQ should get one decent PAR meter to share.

do you mean blind spots caused by hardscape? nothing to do with the efficency of the maxspect if that us the case.

if you raise it higher & plants still bubbling crazy. then you already know what to do

Re: Maxspect razor 120w 8k coverage

I just got a 2ft ANS stand. Was a pain in the a** to fix up. I managed to raise it higher and found it much better now in terms of blind spots. And yes like illumnae, I believe the supplied stand is definitely not high enough.
Still then, the light is superb love it. Hope the metal fixture does not collapse and the metAl strings hold their own. The light I relatively lightweight though. Will update with a pic this Sunday after my rescape.

And yes to answer the question. The plants were bubbling like mad. But only the centre portion ones. Will check on my plants tmr to see if there is a better bubbling rate from the sides too

Re: Maxspect razor 120w 8k coverage

If I am not wrong I got the 6500k model if there is one, been a while. Using for a 60cm x 45cm x 60cm and have no problems at all even with red colour plants.

Running at 75% peak intensity daily for 4hours and plants are growing well, bubbling like mad.

Only thing not growing is algae
