Don't be sad bro. Find the issue and resolve it. We all learn the hard way.

From the picture it seems to be green dust algae.
I am balding but i am still young!

Can share what I did after my 1st failed tank.

    1) apply anti-chlorine (I used prime seachem) with the required dosage and tap water.

    2) cycled my tank with plants (can refer to my pic on type of plants) for 2 week (light on for 9hrs and hanging pump always on).

    3) 3rd week (see abit of algea), I added cory and ramhorns snails (just to make my tank look more colorful).

    4) 4th week, tested water perimeter (I Kiasi, got API test kit, 6.4pH, ammonia/nitrite 0ppm, nitrate 5ppm), added 10 red shrimps (using the slow water transfer method, every 10% of tank water to shrimps bag per 20 mins).

    5) 5th week, only 1 death, 3 moulding, 6 shrimplets (think i got preggy shrimp when purchased).

    Great that everything is alright.
Usually i will do cycling just like how i would have a normal tank, minus all the fauna.
ie, all plants and substrate, and everything as what it will be, and let it cycle for a couple of weeks.
then introduce a couple a commandos to make sure all clear before the rest of the troops invade the tank
