Hi, I am running a Eheim Ecco Pro 300 which I bought end Sep 2013 and a Eheim 2213. The water flow of the Ecco Pro has slowed down drastically compared to the 2213. I have packed the media in both filters in a similar fashion. To me there is obviously something wrong with it.

Can I check with other forummers what is the procedure for warranty repair for Eheim filters?

Is there on the spot inspection and checking or do I just deposit the filter there? How long do I have to wait for repair?

Looks like I have to purchase another Canister filter in the meantime while waiting repairs.... sigh.

You have to bring the filter back to the shop where you got it. They should have filled out the warranty card at the store before you brought it back home. Some will just etch in the name of their shop on your filter housing at the bottom part of the pump head, like what Nature Aquarium at Balestier Hill does. If you wish to skip this whole step you will have to send the filter for servicing directly at Qian Hu Fish Farm I think.

My advice is to open your filter, remove the media and run it again, before you send it for servicing. Sometimes it's just the media getting clogged up, which really affects the flow rate after awhile. If you are truly sure that it is a problem with the pump head itself then go for servicing. There is no on the spot checking at most LFS, they will just send the item for servicing on your behalf, provided you got the filter from them.

Thanks for the advice. I bought my Ecco Pro from Seaview which is equally far from my home so I may just go to Qian Hu. I think the humming sound (my 2213 is silent) suggests that there is something wrong with the motor? I've looked at the impeller it looks ok.

I removed the media and checked the water flow without media. About the same.
I measured flow rate against my 2213 to see how fast it would fill up a small container. The Ecco Pro was only a tiny bit faster even though its rated 750lph versus the 2213's 440lph. (furthermore, the 2213 is connected to a UV unit)

in the 2236, there is a "ball valve" to prevent return flow from the outlet. check that ball valve to see if anything is stuck there.

Also check the impeller chamber, maybe something is stuck there. happens all the time for my 2236... its frustrating.

side note on this canister... treat it nicely... my handle broke on my first maintenance.. sigh. ever since then i have been priming it like a classic. And its a clog machine.. every few months need to remove the blue sponge because its doing its job... TOO WELL. all the gunk gets trapped there.
