Type of substrate for rainbow crab and how long before I need to change it

Hi everyone,

I'm currently thinking of getting a rainbow crab but I'm a newbie at this. I've read a little on it and it seems the type of substrate can differ widely: peat moss, play sand, etc. Are there any good recommendations?

In addition, how long will the substrate last before I need to change them?

I would prefer Play Sand because It wouldnt hurt the crab when its burrowing and, as a newbie, i would prefer you to start with Fiddler Crabs, They are smaller and easier to care for, The males of a Fiddler has one extra large claw and one small claw whilst the female has both small claws.

Tank setup: A half land half water would be good, Imitating a Beach would be good, the Crabs would move around the sand looking for food, as for Tank mates, almost anything is ok as i havent heard any fiddlers catching and eating fish.
