    Hi all

Due to my clumsiness, I knocked my LED light-set into the water. Fortunately, it was not on at the moment.
I managed to pull it out almost immediately but almost half was already wet.

I quickly dried it up and put it aside. I am intending to 'sun' it for 1 or 2 days to get rid of all the moisture/water before switching it on again.

This is the end that took the hit and went underwater....

This is the center part of the light but I doubt the water reached here:

To the (electrical) experts here, will it still work ? Even if it does, are there any hazards? (possibility of short circuit)??

I've also dropped the Z-Series lights in one of my tanks before while it was still on and nothing got electrocuted (pulled it out quickly though). I just dried it off with a cloth and resume using.

If you are worried, just open the casing and remove the plastic screen, then leave it dry for a while to make sure. As long as there is no water being left in the circuitry, it shouldn't be an issue.

Your mileage may vary. Others may be unscathed by their experience but you might not suffer the same. Be careful.

Would be best to dry it properly before turning it on. if you wanna take the extra precaution, maybe you can keep it in a bag of rice for a few days just like people who drop their phones would.

Agree... Shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure the led is dry before you turn it on.

Put the light into plastic bag together with dehumidfier like (thirsty hippo )... let dehumidfier do its job. Hope it helps...

Thanks for the replies. The light is working fine now..hopefully the heat will drive out any residual moisture. I cant help but feel a bit amused by the rice suggestion... Though i heard it being used for wet handphones... I am wondering the amount of rice i would need for a 2 ft lightset
