He's using Hydrogen Peroxide, this method has being introduced quite awhile back, especially spot treatment. Not the best ideas like he's demonstrating. Finding the right balance is the right method although I've another method myself of dealing with algae.

GSA on glass is pretty easy to clean. Just take a plastic card eg. Expired credit card. to scrape off. Oto prefer diatoms/ brown algae. Nerite maybe too slow.

Reduce lights period helps a lot.

Hi Benny thanks for the prompt reply. I actually looking for preventive method then solution.

If i scrape them off manually i guess they will come back after a while? and if i scrape them off, will these GSA spread over my whole tank?

The preventive method is to balance your tank lights, co2 and nutrient level. But that is not easy to achieve. Now that the elephant is in the room. Scraping it off is the next best alternative, and if you are able to achieve balance GSA will not return. Or else it will be the same old thing again.

I find glutaraldehyde (2-3% solution) to work the best. I dose every alternate day in my moss tank with rcs. No harm to flora and fauna. Only care required is that i dose only when i turn on the lights during daytime.

Hi Nick, seldom heard people use glutaraldehyde. Where can you get it?

Seachem claims that the glutaraldehyde used in Excel is a polymer of Glutaraldehyde which is more stable, and by stable they mean that the halflife of the glut in excel is higher. Glutaraldehyde at 2% solution is not harmful.
In fact both glut and excel smell the same..

PS: dont try to smell 20% glut

Excel smells abit like apple cider to me, i guess that's from the glutaraldehyde.

Even at the diluted percentage in Excel i already feel abit dizzy if i happen to be too close when dosing and breathe it... can't imagine higher concentrations.

my 1ft tank is infected by hairy algae.
will an increase in water flow rate in tank help ?
thinking of using a small submerged type to filter improve
the water flow in the tank.
