hi Kross,
THIS is at least what we call the "up-to-the-standard" cherry shrimp....
![]()
how much did u pay for it? this kind of quality is more than enough to get me into the gang of crustacean-hobbyist...
is this the original look when u got it? or they develop to become one?
nice shrimp and nice pic.... and good photography skill![]()

Thanks for the compliment. I actually got it from a friend who's breeding CS in Msia. As for bringing out the colouration, it's all in water condition/diet and of course the source of the breed.

Thanks for the compliment too. My friend sold them to me for only RM2.00 each. With this colouration, it is sold at around RM5.00 each.
In fact, mine is not as red as some of his.
The shrimp already achieved this colouration at around 5mm size. Hard to find them nowadays. Usually those pink CS.
Erm, good photography skill?? I am only a amateur trying out my ixus. You can actually see the reflection from the tank. :P
Cheerios
erm but this is quite usual for cherries to achieve such a standard. mine's like fiery red already since young.

ya, no point trying to stir-up in this forum, again...
all (well, most) of us get into these forums to share and to learn from each other, not to compare how good you have and put in unconstructive (or rather destructive) comment to other fellow hobbyists' post, which i find rather damaging especially to newcomers.
one thing to share is that i find (as kross mentioned) that CS do tend to depend on the source of the breed. i have kena before, buying some pale cherry and in the end died in pink.....never got a chance to live up the name as a CS. But within the same batch, some manage to turn super red, so assumed all condition the same..... or got a 'rojak' batch from impured generation :P
anyway, let's try not to say how good u have, share more on how u get what u have, or unless..... just by chance u 'tikam' what u got.....
also, not only enjoy the CS, but enjoy as well how wonderful natural color can be....![]()
sure.. but when i get my digicam back from my gf first. haha. relax man! have fun with the shrimps!!!

What da fish!
Just to share my cherries pictures. Their color slowly developed inside my 6' moss tank. Now most of the adults are super red and delivered 20+ cherries young one.

Just to share...I have a few rounds with cherry shrimps and experimentation(by batches and seperations)
To achieve good colouring(Best)
1. water condition - prefer to be cooler
2. moss in place - thinks it like to hide at times
3. food - red pellets helps
I have put different conditions and obtain almost different colouring for my cherry shrimps. To me suprise, I have 2 which is totally red in colour. like a red lobster...I was wondering was it a new breed as well....
Currently experimenting on bee shrimps - think I have breed a new type(least I have yet to see it before) - It is like the crystal red shrimp, just that instead of red, it is black(bee) with white strips....

My tank for the cherries , simply moss , more moss and moss. They like to nippling on the mosses, and slowly most of them are turning super red now.
Of course chilled water with 25 deg c may help.
Or could it be sun burn caused by my 3x150w MH , just joking !
Malayian are not very hardy in my tank. Most of the 100 pieces either MIA or died. Left with one and only one. It is now super chocolate dark brown and with bright yellow stripe on top. 2 white eyes. It actually quite shy and quite nice to look at.
Cheers
here's my CS:
I'm breeding it myself...but not so nice yet...
