Becareful, there are fake lily pipes out there. Look out for the angle of bend for the lily pipe.

Actually the original is also copy from others. Just that they are not in glass and look so aesthetic. Even the fake ones can be as good as the so called original ones. How to choose? Look at the end before the BIG mouth opening, it needs to have gradual angle and smooth out to the BIG mouth before water is thrown out to create the swirl effect, if the end is too straight(same diameter) it'll never create the vortex wave. Oh blue, the lilypipe is not mine. I have initially thought all lily pipes should work even the imitation one. When i see the video, hobbists must be warned.

Yeah, i've seen some individual lily pipe sets from the various "branded" 3rd party ones which have an odd angle in the exit bend too ... i guess all these glassware are handmade so it depend on the skill (or mood) of the glass craftsman making the lily pipes.

Moral of the story is to check each set to make sure not to get the ones with odd upward angled bends.

Sadly, there is no information tagged to the video. But the angle near the outlet is just off. I think even with a powerful water flow, a working lily pipe would not have that effect, the water should "slide" against the glass wall. A power waterflow should just meaning your tank becomes a washing machine.

Just search for the cheapest 3rd-party brand glass lily pipes from eBay, Aliexpress or Taobao... then order a few sets, good chance you'll get one that'll work like the false lily pipe in the video, it all depends on luck.

Looking at this video, I think the problem can be solved by lowering the flowrate... I have been using many non-ADA lilypipes that has worked successfully namely ANS and Gush

Hi betta, i believe is has nothing to do with flowrate. I am using 2 sets of ANS currently and both have no such issue. It has more to do with poor construction instead. My EAsy Aqua do not have is problem too. Both are running at maxi flowrate. So this problem can be rare unless you buy it from a glass maker that has no idea of what he is doing and what function the product serves. Thereby, he is only blindly coping the asthestic looks and forget about the angle neccessary to allow the water flow to "slide" along the glass.

Of course, having say that, i believe if the flow rate is fast enough and the lily pipe is tilted in a certain angle, the effect shown in the video can be achieved.
