Which LFS Sells Daphnia (Ang Boon) Regularly?

Hi,

I am breeding fish fry, but I do not want to hatch brine shrimp eggs due to lack of time. So I prefer to buy Ang Boon every few days to feed them.

Does anyone know of any LFS which sells the Boons every day or regularly?

Just my personal advise, OTF seems to have daphnia on sale every day and it seems very clean. However I got daphnia from y618 once and it is a bad experience. It's my fault as i did not clean the daphnia properly and end up my tank got infested by hydras. So when you feed with live daphnia, please check and clean th rm properly before feeding to your fishes

Hydra appear only if you overfeed with Moina (which is the water flea we get in Singapore). Just get a brine shrimp sieve or net, pour some Moina in, rinse them with your tank water and feed directly.

After reading about Hydra, I now have second thoughts about getting Ang Boons for my fry.
I just hate those hydras, which will kill the frys and adult fish too. Since they are so small to be detected, I'd rather be safe than risky.

Actually those aquarium shop which sells frozen bloodworm should have frozen bloodworm for sales, I got mine from OTF. Some of my friends got from Polyart.

If I get frozen daphnia, will there be any possibility for any hydra which is mixed with it reviving?
Ooo I just hate hydras, and the mere thought of hydras will put me off daphnia forever.

I not so sure but on the hikari frozen daphnia package ( the brand I got) stated on the Internet that it is free from bacteria, parasite and foul odors. Its quite a lot of cube for a $2 pack.

Alamak, you never read my earlier posting... I posted I got mine at OTF aquarium. Friend got from polyart. C328 might sell too.

The frozen Daphnia packs contain most likely, D. magna, which is larger than the Moina available locally as live food. They change color upon thawing. C328 does sell these frozen Daphnia. They are good but often the bodies of the animals are already smashed up due to the freezing process. As for Hydra "reviving" upon use of frozen daphnia, that is a possibility because Hydra are "biologically immortal". Just do not overfeed with these small animals, in particular Daphnia, BBS and other tiny animals, and you will not have problems with Hydra at all.
