Why i think it sounds illegal is because
    1. I once asked a dam operator whether its ok to go into the catchment area, his reply was.. No, if caught they want to know what you are doing there.. reason is because they are scared you might be poisoning the water amongst other reasons.
    2. collecting rain water can be illegal, if the surface area of the water catchment area is above a certain size.

But for all you know, even though illegal in the above, it might be legal to collect water from a nearby lake?

    This is Singapore. HAHAHA

    Hmm...are the following illegal then?

    1. Bring a bucket of sea water home from the beach? (my guess - no)
    2. Bring back those shells picked at the beach? (my guess - no although it is illegal at some overseas beaches)
    3. Bring a small bucket of sand home from the beach? (my guess - yes)

Am I right? Sorry for off topic here as I was thinking of doing that when I wanted to set up my brackish tank.

Singapore. anything not sure don't do it... chances are you'll be violating the law if it's not a thing publicly known to be legal.

on a different note, if we don't know and ask you go ahead. we (hobbyists) will be painting the impression that it is ok to do. and (if )you get fined, wha we all get it....

Don't ask don't tell is the right policy. I do know of a reservoir where they discharge water into the drain when the reservoir water level gets too high. Going to the drain to scoop up the same clean water shouldn't pose any legality issues I suppose?

Re: Mandai lake water for Sulawesi shrimp

HI ppl, udate on my lokang water, finally i get the lokang water in my tank, ran it for 8 days, did a 10% water change using distill water, add active carbon in the filter. This morning bought 1opcs of sakura shrimp from seaview. THats what it states on the bag , but they look like cherry shrimp and i pcs of red rili inside. AFter i put this guys in my tank, they were swimming crazy in my tank, so i think is GG liao, not a good sign . SO i left for work n reach home around 8pm , expect to see dead shrimp in my tank, but too my suprise they are still active and grazing on the star moss. I keep my finger cross. AND will update agian.100.jpg098.jpg105.jpg102.jpg

    Nice.

Wonder is the water condition suitable for other type of tropical fishes?

Any water parameter available for the lokang water before wc? 😄
