Looks good, there is just the right amount of moisture on the soil.
Yeah, those are HC... though sometimes you might spot some HM/MM pop out at random spots if they happen to have hitchhiked in with the HC.![]()
Trying a dsm two days ago. never tried carpetting before.
can start to see some on below ground is melting already.
Soil ada amazon, light is just 1x 2ft PL.
hopefully enough as it is quite bright and warm already as behind is white oyama.
Top cover is closed by a cardboard which comes when buying the tank.
I think the plants are HC. no?

Do you mean you are running the lights for 24 hours?
I don't think it will speed things up... plants by nature are accustomed to approx 10 hours of light.. this is because in nature, the sun appears in the sky for about that amount of light.. given longer duration will not speed things up..
Have a bit of patience, once the root system starts up, it will RUN. Be sure to keep soil and air moist in the tank.
Enjoy!
I am balding but i am still young!
The longest light schedule i've tried so far is 14 hours daily for DSM, a 24hour light schedule would be interesting to test though, see if the plants can adapt and keep growing throughout.![]()
I'm doing DSM now too. It's normal to expect some melting? It occurred after I tried to do 8hr + 4hr lighting regime, was trying to speed things up.. Reverting back to 4+4hrs, hopefully the melting will stop!
How much water did you spray into the tank?
Are those that melted under water?

All are kept above water level. My guess is insufficient moisture. My crypts are doing well though hah

The melting after initial planting is normal, its just the weak or damaged leaves dying off before the stronger new leaves grow back.
You should resume the longer lighting period so that the plants can recover quicker and grow faster... or else it'll take alot longer to grow.
With shorter lighting period, it'll take months instead of weeks to carpet.![]()
